If you’re asking yourself, is TMS for me? then you really need to look at our important criteria. This is information that you need to check, to ensure you are a suitable candidate for TMS therapy. If each item checks out ok for you then give us a call to arrange your first appointment.
Do you suffer with depression? Are you over 18 years of age?
At this stage, research is currently being conducted at Monash University in Melbourne. There are also universities around the world looking into suitability for children and adolescents. Until results have been published and approved, TMS is unapproved for individuals under 18 years of age in Australia.
Depression Medication
- Have you tried 2 or more different types of depression medication?
- Have you had side effects from the anti-depressant medications you have taken in the past?
Are you pregnant or be thinking about conceiving?
If so therapy has not yet been tested on pregnant women. Unfortunately treatment is not recommended for this group at this stage.
Do you have metal implants?
TMS therapy should NOT be used to treat patients with metal implants. This includes implants controlled by physiological signals. (e.g., including pacemakers, vagus nerve stimulators (VNS) or implantable cardioverter defibrillators).
TMS treatment is a therapy that is still emerging. Research is currently underway in relation to many areas discussed above. If you are under 18 or if you are pregnant, then it is not the right time for you to undergo TMS therapy. However, we recommend you keep in touch with us and visit our website regularly. We will be updating the information as it arrives.
